Since I did What It Is, WCBN's Funk Show and my brain-soul child (as I often now like to brag), I thought I might as well post the setlist here. But really I'm posting because I wanted an excuse to share this wondrous commercial with you, featuring Bootsy Collins.
And I do indeed say so. Check it, fool, with some links to some random songs. Also make sure to check out my other baby (as far as radio show babies go), the WCBN funk show WHAT IT IS Fridays (tonight!) 8-10 pm. I will more than likely be hosting tonight!
Last night on Party O'Clock, U-M's Creative Arts Orchestra took over WCBN, setting up three groups (one in the FM, one in Prod A, and one in the rock and world CD section). It was quite awesome (if I do say so myself). Fortunately for you lucky internet dogs and jazz cats, plenty of videos were taken. Let's call it "website exclusive content" to make this blog seem important.
CAO is a group dedicated to improvising music on the spot, some of it serious, some of it silly, some of it from outer space, some of it funky as hell. The ensemble is directed by Mark Kirschenmann. We are playing next Thursday, November 10, at Rackam Auditorium. (Which means no Party O'Clock for Kirsten.) You should come. Seriously. Do it.
Here are some videos of CAO:
Here's the playlist for the show (with links to the tunes on YouTube... a dubious moral practice I'm not sure I'll continue):
Welcome to the Party O'Clock Party O'Blog. Party O'Clock is a vigorously freeform radio show on WCBN FM Ann Arbor from 8-10 pm on Thursdays. What is this magical station? Find out at www.wcbn.org.
WHICH MEANS IT'S ON TONIGHT! WOW! AND THE U-M CREATIVE ARTS ORCHESTRA WILL BE THERE! WOW!
For a sampling of a regular freeform show, see this setlist from 10/13/11:
